The 2023 Land Rover Defender has no current safety ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). However, the 2020 model, which formed the basis of the 2023 model, was given a five-star safety rating by Euro NCAP, the European agency in charge of researching insurance and safety ratings for vehicles. It also received a five-star rating from ANCAP in Australasia.
