Wrangler vs. Defender—Engines

The Defender 110 has a standard 2.0L turbo engine that’s capable of generating 296 hp ad 295 lb-ft of torque, while the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon starts with a 3.6L V6 that provides only 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque since it lacks a turbocharged engine. Both SUVs offer engine upgrades. For the Defender it’s a fuel mileage-friendly mild hybrid that generates 395 lb-ft of torque while the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon’s next engine tops out at 375 lb-ft. At the top of the engine list, the Defender stays in the lead with a 518 hp V8 engine. The Jeep’s V8 reaches 470 hp.

These engine differences can be seen when you look at the towing capacities of each vehicle. The Defender towing capacity reaches 8,201 pounds, while the Jeep Wrangler can only tow 2,000 pounds.

Land Rover is known not only for its ruggednes, but also as being one of the more luxurious SUVs on Malibu streets. This is evident when we look at the technology features in Wrangler vs. Defender. Here are a few of the features you’ll find on the Defender that aren’t on the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon:
